The application

Effective HVAC disinfection for university clinics

At University Hospital Würzburg, on-site generation and automated dosing support cooling-water hygiene. Redox monitoring records operating data.

Problem

At University Hospital Würzburg, the cooling tower was severely contaminated with Legionella. Traditional disinfection required intensive effort and monitoring, while the client needed a permanent solution to reduce contamination risk.

Solution

The Voigtländer system produces Anolyte on site and doses it directly into the cooling system. Redox measurements determine water quality, control dosing and store data for later access.

Results

  • Complete disinfection of the cooling-water loop
  • Biofilm build-up removed
  • Reduced contamination risk and operating cost
  • Healthcare hygiene compliance supported

Project scope

  • HVAC system assessment
  • Disinfection system deployment
  • Redox monitoring setup
  • Long-term contamination control

Scope of the results

What this project shows and what it cannot promise.

An installation, evaluated within its own operating context.

Shown here

  • Voigtländer water hygiene applied to cooling and HVAC water.
  • Treatment setting: University hospital cooling-water loop
  • Cooling-loop result: Complete disinfection and biofilm removal

Not a general guarantee

  • Results and capacities cannot be transferred to another water composition or operating regime without assessment.
  • Design and expected performance for a new site depend on its own water analysis and process conditions.
